Legendary hip-hop band A Tribe Called Quest returns to the UK charts with a remarkable comeback. Two of their most iconic albums are experiencing an unexpected surge in popularity, fueled by their use during the breakdance events at the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Low End Theory makes a smashing entry at 3rd place of the Official Hip-Hop & R&B Albums. It’s the best performance of this cult album on this list, where he had only appeared twice before. Lower in the same ranking, we find the compilation The Anthology at the 18th position, it also at its best historical level. But that’s not all! The Low End Theory also has a place in other UK charts:

  • 8th at Official Vinyl Albums Chart
  • 20th on the Official Physical Albums Chart
  • 22nd in the official album sales ranking

This strong comeback is a testament to A Tribe Called Quest’s lasting influence on hip-hop culture. Their unique sound, mixing rap and jazz, has marked a whole generation and continues to attract new listeners.

The inclusion of breakdance in the 2024 Olympic Games has undoubtedly played a key role in this renewed interest. The athletes chose the band’s songs to accompany their performances, reminding the British public of the musical richness of A Tribe Called Quest.

Almost 40 years after their debut, Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad prove that their legacy is more alive than ever. A great tribute to their creativity and their impact on the history of hip-hop.
